Q: Tell us about the moment you knew you wanted to be a leadership coach:
A: I knew I wanted to be a coach/facilitator/trainer when I was 19 years old at MIT and I had my first experience that there was more going on than I had been conscious of previously. At that moment, I said "Somehow I want to use my life to contribute to the quality of other peoples lives". Becoming a leadership coach was a natural evolution from that originating incident.
Q: What is one of the most memorable moments in your coaching career?
A: Working with the head of operations of a catering company and supporting her and her team in creating the mission, vision
Working with the head of a clinic who did not realize how much he was alienating his peers and direct reports and helping him become interested in empowering his team rather than just getting what he wanted.
Q: What's your favorite thing about working at Henley Leadership Group?
A: I have the sense that we as a team are powerfully influencing the lives of many and we each care deeply about each other.
Q: How are you developing yourself as a leader?
A: My focus for 2019 is PSI:
P = Presence and I am focusing on reliably being present throughout the day.
S = Self-discovery and I am engaged with others weekly in ferreting out my own blind spots so that I can bring them into the light.
I = Impact/Intention and I am focusing on paying attention to the impact I am causing to make sure it lines up with my intentions.
Q: What are you reading right now?
A: I am really enjoying Buddha's Brain: The Practical Neuroscience of Happiness, Love and Wisdom By Rick Hanson and Richard Mendius.
Q: What’s making you happy this week?
A: Being alive and having many amazing people in my life to contribute to and receive their contributions to me.
