Q: Before working at HLG, what was the most unusual or interesting or weirdest job you've ever had:

A: My most interesting job before landing in this kick-ass company was my work with moms on public assistance.  I delivered 3-week intensive trainings and loved every one of my clients and all that they taught me. I look back on those days and am so grateful.  Strong women doing what was needed to take care of their families. It was a privilege.  The weirdest job…I had to fry fish.  Nothing more to say there, it sucked.

Q: What is your role at Henley Leadership Group?

A: I do all things learning, training and development related. In my role, I create programs, facilitate trainings, grow the business and partner with current and future clients to implement development programs that will ensure their leaders are ready to create happy, productive and healthy workplaces. I also bring the funny, ensuring we get great work done with levity and fun - seriously, I do.

Q: What's your favorite thing about working at Henley Leadership Group ?

A: I LOVE the creativity!  Every client, every system is unique — meaning every engagement is new, uncharted territory.  I love that we create the work right alongside our clients. I love our long-term partnerships. I love that our coaching and trainings make workplaces better resulting in happier people returning home at the end of the day.

Q: What have you learned ?

A: I have learned that collaboration is the key to development. Surrounding yourself with a powerful team, that is willing to engage in struggle, on behalf of the remarkable. You will produce better work, a healthier workplace, and you yourself will be a bigger and better version of yourselves because of it.

Q: What are you reading right now?

A: Oh man, this one is tough! I want to say something impressive but honestly, as a full-time leader/mom, I am mostly reading homework, spelling lists, permission slips and memes that help me keep my sense of humor in the midst of these big jobs.  I skim lots of articles, executive summaries, and short reads.  The last “real” book I read for work was Smarter, Faster, Better by Charles Duhigg.

Q: What’s making you happy this week?

A: My husband came home recently after a week in Colorado. He supported a dear friend in his vision quest by tending fires for a week straight.  What makes me happy about this is that in the face of so much busy-ness, family logistics, overwhelm and middle age blur and madness, we still figure out how to stop and go do what is good for us. Not easy I will admit but totally worth it.
